31  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: More Smutty Than You: TSR's Hall of Shame on: 2008 May 23, 19:34:19
I usually would be inclined to agree with you Paden, but she pretty much just said the same thing Sim_Outlaw said.  "EA has not done anything against paysites, blah blah blah."  I understand how the pay/free debate can be dragging, but still, that doesn't mean ban file-sharing links on the site outright.  Not all paysite owners are bad and have screwed up the community.  I would say that it's people who want to throw filesharers under the rug have helped screw up the community.

And Insim going anti-fileshare is big.  Insim is big, a lot of people are there, and it's important to have a big site be actually neutral.

I'm not trying to make Kathy feel bad, I just want her to know that neutral does not mean anti-fileshare, and that we have done a lot of things.  We've changed community tone.

With well-made content, you don't have to have "donators gifts."  Our reasoning is that if you have to give money for anything, it's a paysite.  (Some paysites do this, and we usually don't think they're evil, ex. Holy Simoly.  We do think that it's not needed.)

You can create things to celebrate reaching your bill and make these things available for everyone.  Wicked Nouk Family has an aspiration set every time they get enough money to pay the bill.

In regards to my post on the adult site... how about trying to read the garbage that was posted that fueled my disgust? What I posted was rather tame compared to what I was thinking.

And linkage... bottom line I don't care what you guys post in private messages but on the site the links will not be allowed. This is for my own sanity and noone elses. This is one of the reasons why I needed a break, because people don't know when to let it drop. What has been accomplished since this site and others similar have been opened? Not a damn thing. EA hasn't taken any steps towards killing paysites and with their silence they have said they approve. Like them or not they will always be around in one form or another and will continue as long as someone is willing to purchase their product. The fate of the Sims 2 Web section has yet to be determined but things aren't looking very positive for that area and most likely will be removed unless someoe can give a sound reason as to why it shouldn't be.

I won't talk about the adult site, because I haven't read it.  I will talk about your so-called "neutrality."  First of all, as Quinctia pointed out, you could have neutrality.  You could do what MTS2 does, and not allow pay content.  You could do something different and allow people to post links to both paysites and freesites.  You could step up and moderate , so that arguments don't get out of hand.  Instead you decide to be lazy.

Also, everyday we get more and more people registering and posting here.  We've got people who have become aware of the crappy practices Rose, Peggy, and TSR have done against people.  We've got TSR worried about what we'll say and do.  And last of all, EAxis as a business has done nothing against filesharing sites either.  In fact, they're trying to plan TS3 so that paysites won't exist.

Wow.

This has been said before, but I'm glad you put this in a new thread.  You'll find that many of us feel the same way around here.  A lot of us do some creating abouts and we we wouldn't dream about asking for money.

Have some rum.

Can you even see what's offered for donation if you don't pay first?  I don't see how you managed to get to that donation thing via the front page, redisenchanted.

I've been looking at DL's stuff on MTS2, does anyone have a link to her home page?

Your stuff is extremely well made!  Grin

The thing with Tiko makes me angriest.  Instead of making people feel better that he's recovering, they'd rather everyone be worried that he died. Nice.  Roll Eyes

And I'm sorta jubilant about the pull factor.  They really don't justify being pay, and the empty argument shows up in their business strategy.

What did happen with Windkeeper, to maker her "fade away?"  Real Life problems, perhaps?  Or the pay argument?  Does anyone at TSR know?

I think I'd like it best if it was a curve all the way through, instead of being sort of jagged....does that make sense?  And I'm loving your outfits, by the way, they're gorgeous with my shiny new video card.

RoundRobin, what we're protesting is the fact that in spite of it's PG-13 rating, TSR makes no efforts to keep its content for the P3-13 range; in fact, it has multiple instances of content showing up for inappropriate words and ads that are also not appropriate.  MTS2 makes no such claims, but provides a site for more-adult oriented content.

Well....fuck.

That's pretty fucked up.

I will donate and support them if they stay free.

If that is Sizz's mesh, that's probably why the credit is only included with the items themselves, and it's not on the page.  She fucking knows what she's doing.  Roll Eyes

I REALLY miss a good ol' fashioned Texas BBQ...can I come??  I can show you around the southeast part of Texas where I was born and raised (hint, hint, begging, pleading, whining if neccessary).

I think that San Antonio, El Paso, and Austin would have crappy barbecue  Cheesy. (I honestly don't know if they would or not.)   College Station has awesome barbecue and steak (it's all these effin' cows around here), and Houston and Dallas do too.  Also, you should try some fried chicken too.  And steak (any Texas Roadhouse is good, but besides that, no chains, except maybe Saltgrass when you're kinda broke).  Almost every fancy place offers steak, and you should have Sweet Georgia Brown, and some Tex-Mex, and.....here: http://bestof.dallasobserver.com/bestof/section.php?section=oid:18851

Dallas has too much damn food.

To be honest, I can't eat a whole Porterhouse   Grin.  But I love me a medium-rare T-bone steak.
45  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: New paysites: Habitat43 on: 2008 April 08, 20:21:12
You also have to quibble with our Texan BBQ.  And our steak. (You have not had steak until you've had a huge medium-rare Porterhouse, dammit.)  Texans really love meat.  Tongue
