HIM666 is awesomenes.

Yeah, I never joined Simbella (lucky me again XD) Only heard about it when I started lurking the Phorum, actually. Then again, I only got TS2 last March, and haven't been an active member in anything other than a couple of small forums. So I've been spared all the drama, which is fine by me :lol: Drama's only fun from a distance and in stories. I suppose it's natural, if ugly behaviour, since humans are competitive creatures.

Aikea's stuff is very nice, but I wouldn't degrade myself for the sake of some pixels. A few someones tried to act all friendly to me on Gaia to get art before, and it annoyed the crap out of me. Am not that stupid, thx.

GoS stands for Garden of Shadows, and WNF for Wicked Nouk Family Smiley

i agree with ws-jessica about the reason for the popularity of the pay hair sites; maybe i'm wrong - and it's certainly not true in all cases, as people play the game in different ways and for different reasons - but i think that a significant number enjoy Sims 2 because it allows them to play out fantasies or they use it as a platform for wish-fulfillment. (Maybe it's just because i don't get around much, but i've never actually met anyone who used their possession of pay CC as a bragging point :shock: And i'm quite grateful for that.) They might not have the money for the designer clothes or fussy celeb hairdos in RL, so they get them for their Sims instead. Paysites specialise in these types, so they're popular. If there were free lookalikes available, i'm sure that these paysites would lose a big chunk of their supporters.

Carla is going to love your model, Markus! ;____- <3 Ginger Beef deserves her own horror film, where she is chased through an abandoned asylum by the meatslab dress. ...or maybe the leading role should go to Carla itself.

i think Virginia Hamme was just a play on/extension of the meat theme... meatslab dress, Ginger Beef... Virginia Ham(me)

Glad it amused XD The thought of zomgANGST!Tristan doing synchronised dancing to cheerful Bhangra music was too funny to me to pass up.

willywiluhps - Exactly ^^; I actually like some of the other characters, but I just couldn't appreciate Tristan, or Emily... which is a problem when they're the main characters. They left me with an overall feeling of "meh".

Finally went to see what all the fuss over Deception Pass was about, and read it all a couple of weeks ago. All else aside, she does take very nice pictures. Storywise... not the worst thing I've ever read, but I can't see why it has garnered such a rabid following or why she's so possessive over her characters... they aren't that unique. (I'd love to see the parody, dispossessive :lol: )

Gave Mr. Emo a lifestyle and CC makeover...

Tristan Pranay by day: a nice, outgoing, chatty, ordinary guy.

But at night, he dreams...

...of being a Bollywood star.

It was funnier in my head. >>;

I'm probably the only one who thinks she kinda looks like a man in thick white foundation and lipstick :shock:

No, I did too ^^; I don't think she'd look too bad without the heavy makeup, and with a different hairstyle, though; neither seems to be doing her many favours.

And back on the topic of her Sims... never found the attraction to them ^^; I like some of her CC, but not the Sims she makes.

Cute PMBD icon Smiley

The pirate lot looks great, carolus! It makes me think of Indy Jones movies.

Holy crap, eyeburn! x__x *went to see the site for the first time* Those models are... well, they really don't need a costume for Halloween, do they?

On a random note, Jocelyn Wildenstein actually used to be quite pretty before all the surgery. It's pretty sad, really.

Singapore imports practically everything, so things here aren't cheap either. Except taxi fares >>;

Unfortunately Seomi has been gone for a while, as well as Louis/Ren.  Sad  Their stuff really is fantastic though, and I suppose that's mostly because they don't feel compelled to create something new every day since they aren't selling their stuff.

Yeah >< i think that pretty much sums up the good and bad of people who actually create out of passion for the game - when their enthusiasm fades or something else comes along, they don't have much reason to keep producing works, but while they are in the fandom, their love for the game really shows in the things they make.

Pigtails? : o Don't know if i saw the previews. Probably shouldn't go looking though, or i'll want them too XD

On an unrelated note, Aikea_Guinea has posted a story at TSR. She didn't actually write it, she just adapted it to Edgar Allan Poe's The Raven.

Tributes are one thing, but i hope she isn't claiming she came up with it herself or anything of the sort. >> She makes some pretty nice outfits and accessories, but i'm not really fond of her Sims or stories at all.

I NEW IT!!!!! im sure i saw similarities between Ren's hair for Oblivion and Sim Cribbling's hairs, even his avatar in MTS2 looks like its from Oblivion (but the ears are wrong). i love his/her hairs, too bad i cant use them in oblivion...

Yup, 'tis one and the same Smiley i was pleasantly surprised when i found out she made content for Sims 2 as well - i first saw her stuff when looking for Morrowind mods. She made my game so much prettier ;___; <3

Peggy and Rose probably aren't really known outside the Sims 2 community (far as i know anyway), so they probably aren't damaging the image of East Asian creators too much on a macro level. And even within the Sims community, there are plenty of good, free creators from the region - like Louis of Sim Cribbling (who also makes amazing mods for the Elder Scrolls games) and Seomi, who counter the bad image.

*waves to pinksmoke* i'm from S'pore too.

Well, whatever their reason, going free is a good thing, i'd say.  Smiley

Besides what's been mentioned, i also play around with Curves to adjust the amount and intensity of light and shadows. Normally what i do is to use Curves first, maybe some Brightness/Contrast, then adjust the hues with Hue/Saturation and sometimes Colour Balance. Then some manual painting to touch up parts.

There are really quite a few ways to go about getting the effect you want, it's just a matter of experimenting to get the effect you want in a way you like. i rarely ever use the Dodge/Burn tool too ^^; It has its uses, but i prefer to use the other tools.

Thank you! i might do that one day - have to get over my bad habit of lurking there ^^;

(And thank you so much for doing all those amazing hair conversions and edits - it's so hard to find nice, longer hair for male Sims, and it was like dying and going to Sim heaven when i found all the hairs you'd done!)

The piratey layout theme is great! My only critique is that the text in the framed page is a bit hard to read: the non-bolded text against the striped background, and the black text against the dark grey background at the top, particularly. Not sure if it's just on my screen and in IE, though.

i really like the male outfits, Renegade - sexy, practical and something i can actually imagine normal guys wearing.

Nacey - The lipsticks look pretty nice! Not sure if it would look better, but have you tried tinting the highlights a bit, or using lighter, slightly cooler shades of the base colours for painting the highlights? It tends to look more natural than using pure white for highlights. Although i'm not too sure if this will translate well for Sim makeup... The other thing might be to add a bit more variation in the width and intensity of the highlights. That said, your lipsticks already look far better than what i could probably do XD

aingeal, luff your drawings to bits. Are you a professional? Because that colouring in the pictures are promising. Smiley

Also, you sims are some pretty pixels.

Thank you! i actually recently graduated with a BSc. in Information Systems Management, which is sort of a mix of business and IT. Quite unrelated XD My real love has always been the arts though, so that's where much of my time goes. i'm basially self-taught.

Ironically enough, i'm now employed by my former university, in my old school, doing publication and multimedia/website design work, and it was largely my art that got me the job rather than my paper qualifications.  i'd love to write and illustrate my own books one day. Way better than coding or writing business reports, to me >>;

Shan0w - Maybe some framed records on the wall behind the drum set?
