Falln, that's the sort of thing that Sim-torture was made for!    Like you said, there is a time and a place. I don't think Atwa-torture is really warranted unless she has injured you personally. If Dina wanted to do it, I'd have no qualms about pointing and laughing at the results, but I don't really want to see it from most people. I don't think people who do it are bad or anything, I just don't care enough about the issue to want to see it. Most of the rest of us should just be content with mocking Atwa's horrible CC and making fun of her for being a heartless, dramatic bitch.

That said, I still don't think that Sim-torture is even close to the level of cruelty as what Atwa has done to people (she spread around personal, RL issues and mocked people for it, while all Alex did was post some pictures of her image dying in a game). Maybe I'm taking it in a less serious light than some people, but I just don't see why someone would be terribly injured by seeing their self-Sim killed. Like I said, though, Atwa is just the sort of drama queen who would need to be hospitalized after seeing that. 

I know you didn't compare it to Atwa's behavior, but Nouk was saying that this kind of thing seems almost as distasteful as the way Atwa acts. I was just disagreeing, saying that this doesn't seem nearly as repulsive, to me. I can understand her stance, though. 

Also, I wasn't saying that you were personally wounded, I was saying that if Atwa were personally wounded, she should get over it, because it's not really that big of a deal. I see where the confusion comes in, though: what I should have said was, "They're just pixels, and if anyone is personally wounded by someone torturing their self-Sim, then it's pretty much their problem." That sounds a little callous, though, since I would probably not be happy if I saw people posting pics of my Sim being killed in new an inventive ways, unless they were just playing. Still, I can't imagine being too hurt by it. Then again, I'm not the drama queen that Atwa is.

Like I said, I also don't torture Sims of people that I don't like, because it seems silly and kind of mean, to me. But I don't think it's particularly disgusting when other people do it. I might not want to see screenshots (hint hint), but the act itself doesn't really concern me. *shrug*   

I don't see what all the upset is about, personally. Lots of people talk about torturing self-Sims of people they don't like in their games, and I've never seen anyone get up in arms about it before. It's never something I've enjoyed doing, myself, because it seems a little too vindictive and petty to me. At the same time, it doesn't seem like it's anywhere near as reprehensible as making fun of a tumor or mocking someone's potential infertility, and spreading other people's misfortune everywhere just to gain attention for oneself.

I'm sure Atwa already knows how people here see her, so I doubt she'd be shocked by seeing someone kill her in Sim form. They're just pixels, and if anyone is personally wounded by that, then it's pretty much their problem. Maybe it wasn't the most tasteful way of expressing one's dislike of Atwa, but comparing it to Atwa's behavior is an exaggeration, IMO.

I have a feeling that Kathy Bates' character is actually more lovable.

And for the record, I saw images of one of Chaz's sims with all the CC removed, and it was the sort of monstrosity that would feel right at home alongside the hunchback of Notre Dame. If you ever decide to put one of those horrorshows in your game, please post the hideous results!

Woah, I had no idea that Confide and Tantra had left! Captain gets extra cookies and rum just because it was in her post where I heard it first.    I am thrilled! I have some of their clothes in my game. Not a lot, because I tend to steer clear of TSR, but they're both some of the more talented creators around that hellhole (Tantra's set of outfits with the knit skull-print tubes, skinny jeans and heels is one of my most favoritestest). That's two more points in the "quality creators get fed up and flee" tally; I'm still crossing my fingers for the ultimate fall of TSR, and with more and more of their better artists up and leaving, it seems more possible.


Bingo. I don't think that kind of mockery is necessary or particularly funny. I get a little squicky seeing pictures of the TSR staff, sometimes, because it puts a human face on things. So even though I want to mock them heartily, I don't really feel much need to make fun of the way they look. Pixelated pretty much pinned down my feelings on the issue.

I agree with Zazazu. I have always had excellent luck with Demonoid and ViTaLiTy torrents. I have used several others that came with good instructions, cracks, keygens, bonus content and the like, but these two are consistently good (and tend to have a lot of seeds, too).

Meowbark: you'll need a CD crack. Most torrents will come with one (along with a keygen or a list of serial numbers), and instructions on how to use them. Unless they are shitty torrents, that is. 

Not that I *cough* advocate piracy or anything. Ok, in some cases, I do. 

Generally speaking, you would replace the original .exe in the installation directory (in the case of TS2 base game, that would normally be C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\The Sims 2\TSBin) with the cracked version. You can download cracks in a variety of places, including (but not limited to) torrents that contain isos and the like. Then, whenever you run the game, run it off of the cracked .exe rather than the default one. This should work for pirated games, if that's how you like to do things, but it also works with legitimate copies if you just don't want to have to use your disc.

Also, 4chan will always be the asshole of the internet, and that is why I love it so.

Luckily, neither was I. I've been known to be shy in new situations but it generally doesn't take me long to warm up to people and become quite talkative (if you haven't noticed that already).

I was still weird as a kid, there's no getting around that, but I had plenty of friends to be weird with. A couple of notable examples are still very close friends of mine. I've really missed them since I moved cross-country, but at least we're in regular contact.    I'm planning on going to see them in a few weeks, and we will go on a "whisper walk" (that's our name for drunkenly wandering the neighborhood at 2 am, trying desperately not to wake up the neighbors despite the fact that you can't seem to keep your voices below a dull roar).

Seriously, though, you're right: it seems a little silly and dramalicious for an admin to add these things to her profile seriously. It seems quite possible, to me, that this is yet another attempt to cover up Atwa's continued presence on the deteriorating TSR ship as it slowly but inexorably sinks into the depths of its own rapidly increasing failure. Luckily, I think we have a few sharks around here.
