841  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: Free Content Pwns Paysite Crap on: 2008 September 17, 16:25:00
To me, the poor boys look like someone has briefly pulled their bodies to a little stretch so that their torsos are a bit higher and their legs look like stumps.

Must just be me mind, but yeah I see what you mean.

I see what you mean as well.  But the first thing I noticed was the extra wrinkled crotch with the dark "stain" looking thing.  If it was just on one pair, I'd figure it might be the lighting, but on all pairs?  Yeah, it makes them look like candidates for the bedwetters club.   And, as if someone mashed their privates.  Poor kids.

Is it just me, or do the boys in the Evi pants all look like they pissed themselves and it's just starting to dry?

Normally, I don't completely hate Evi's stuff.  It's not my favorite, but it isn't bad.  But that?  Yeah, that's bad.
843  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: The Horrors of the Peggy Zone on: 2008 September 13, 13:26:08
Peggy is an extremely talented individual, if you take a second look at her work you will amazed and astounded at it's quality. I know that many of you do not look kindly on paysites, but you should remember that Peggy is generous enough to offer a lot of content for free, and good on her for that. The reason I am here is firstly because Peggy has lots of loyal fans, and I'm here speaking on behalf of all of us and secondly I am here because I think Peggy is an extremely talented individual with lots of promise. Three cheers for peggy! Grin

Aww, you're so cute and you try so hard!

I doubt that.  My mother, who is in her 60s, manages to do quite a few things on her computer and on the internet.

I never said anyone in their 40s and up were unable to handle computers.  I'm older than him, and I've been on the net since early days.  However, there is a big difference between being part of the net and using it as a communication device, or using it as a tool to get things.  Use it to communicate and you soon learn to write almost as casual as you speak.  I admit when I first started using the 'net, I had a habbit of writing everything like I was writing a letter to someone.  It took a bit before I learned to write conversation with people like I was talking, not letter writing.

People were saying that he sounded like he was a young kid.  I'm saying he sounded more like someone who was older and new to the ways of communicating on the internet.  His little heartfelt speech sounded exactly like something someone would write for a school assignment or in a letter to someone, which was probably the only time he ever did any serious consistent writing.  He came across like someone who wasn't used to IMing and all the "Chat" that goes on in the net.   That was pretty much a composition.  "Why I don't feel accepted in the Sims2 Community."

As for it being a way of losing an argument?  Its that way in RL too.  Trying to make others feel sorry for you in such a grandiose and pathetic manner is well.....pathetic.

I was actually  referring to Godwin's Law of the Usenet.
845  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Idiot of the year anyone? on: 2007 May 31, 01:38:32
Actually, the fact that this assclown is in his 40s does not surprise me.

Anyone who's under the age of 30 has use the net for a good portion of their lives.  They may be idiots, but someone probably told them the first rule of arguing on the net, which is the moment you mention anything having to do with Nazis and WWII, you have lost the argument.

Also, I'm betting he's fairly new to the real net.  Yeah, he might have exchanged some email with friends and family, maybe even cruised a few websites, got some information, balanced his checkbook with his bank, but all of those are passive activities.

It wouldn't surprise me if Sims2 is his first experience at interacting with the web.  He writes like someone who has no clue how UNserious the web is and how the more hurt you behaive the more likely everyone is to gather 'round and laugh their ass off at your expense.  He talks like someone who really believes that his heartfelt post will bring a tear to our eyes and a promise to reform.

Sorry, I just have a lot of trouble finding sympathy for someone who feels like the world is out to get him because he's unable to keep his tiny little pixles to himself and only those who will pay him for them.  They're fuckin' Pixels.  If you can't make enough money by donation, then maybe you just shouldn't be doing this shit.

In truth, I'd have more respect for the guy if he said, "I charge for my Pixels because I can, so there!"  But the "I'm a victim because I charge" gets totally on my nerves.  Whiny little assclown.

Is it me or does his/her banner/avitar look like a color test bar for someone who's Primary color blind?

I know Carrie, personally. It's true. Aidan was one sick little boy. She quit making stuff for Sims after she went into premature labor brought on by preeclampsia (which half of you can't even SPELL, much less know what it is) and had Aidan. She didn't use him to get money from people. To say she did is sick. Unless you've sat beside an isolette in a NICU for nine weeks, you'll never know what she's gone through. The fact that Aidan is ALIVE is a miracle.

I'm against paysites. But I'm also against defaming other people, especially when I know them. Until some of you become parents, you'll never know the terror, the heartbreak of having a baby that sick. And even after you do become parents, I hope you don't know that heartbreak.

ANd you know that none of us have a clue what preeclampsia is or that none of us have / know of disabled children?  Thanks for the asumptions.

I always love the holier than thou attitude of "Unless you're a parent you don't know the meaning of love!" and even more vomit inducing, "Unless you're the parent of a sick child, you don't know heartache!" I've lost close family members, I've got a mother who's dying of a prelonged illness.  Who the hell are you to discount my pain so easily with this, "Only a parent understands!"  Who are you to say that only losing a child is true grief?

Pain is pain.  Heartache is heartach.  You cannot lable one persons pain less than anothers.  My heart goes out to any parent of a sick child, but my heart is also big enough to go out to anyone with troubles and not to judge one person's heartache more worthy than another.

FA an SA's dont care (except netseeker?) as long as money is there. Smiley

SA's don't get paid, at least not usually.  Those who are "invited" over there might get paid as  they're fufilling their obligatory stint as an SA, but generally if you're made SA, all you get is the "honor" of the position.

Quote from: "Granuaile"
Oh, that's true!  Thomas could flaunt all the new talent he's bringing in from the outside, and the SA's would still post nice things and smile through it all.  It's like they want to be FA's so bad that they're willing to take any kind of abuse from him as long as there's still hope that they'll be next.

Not all SA's are chomping at the bit for the promotion to FA.  I could name two right off the top of my head who wouldn't want it, were it offered.  I'm sure they aren't the only ones either.

Anyone who thinks SA is an automatic ticket to FA is just stupid.  SA has become almost this blanket award used to consol folks who feel the world is being mean to them.  "Whaa! Everyone on TSR torments me!"  "You poor child, let's make you an SA.  Feel better now?  Good.  Now create your little things and shut up."

Sadly, it works.

This whole idea might work if a forced lobotomy happened with every download.

I love Aikea's stuff. Everyone here is completely right about her.

Am I the only life form in the known universe that isn't crazy about her stuff?  I mean, all her stuff is great quality and she does deserve to be an FA, I'm not disputing that.  But, all her male meshes make guys look like boyband teenagers.

The wooden computer is particularly lovely.  Adds a great touch of realism to any game.
