Proving, once more, that he didn't read the fricking EULA before coughing up the cash. K&E really found a good target for their con.

I am still not entirely sure Walt is not K or E or a friend of theirs.  In which case it is still US who are being conned.  I say we don't engage with this guy/woman at all.  Just delete all the stuff and leave.

I agreed. It really pisses me off how some site managers think they own the content. They simply host the content, they donīt own it. Nobody actually owns the content, EAxis owns it all.

So what are you and Pescado going to do with your mutual interest in getting a hold of Insim?

It's been made quite clear to me that people really don't want me involved in any of this, so as far as I'm concerned this is all Pescado from now on.

I'll help as and when people want shiny new things for download sorting and filtering.

I never got the impression people didn't want you involved.  Where?  Whatever reincarnation of Insim there is, I hope that there is a better way to download sort and filter.  I am a big fan of MTS2's way of doing things, as you well know.  Maybe you and Pes can have a meeting of the minds and meld something together.  I would donate for a new server just to see that happen.

Lots of people have been bagging the idea.  People saying they don't want MTS2.2. and would prefer the dominion of Pescado.  That person isn't me - but I've read it.

*step out of lurking mode*

I prefer Pescado.

Yes.  Though I believe it was TSR & Simfreaks who first approached Maxis/EA to get approval to offer items for pay to help cover website costs back in the Sims1 days.  Supposedly Maxis/EA gave the go ahead and said it didn't violate the EULA.

Youīre right, I can confirm this. This was discussed at Simfreaks private/mods/admins/creators forum and Heather talked about this meeting with Steve and EA. She didnīt gave much information except the fact that they said to EA that they were making a paysite to cover server expenses. EA agreed with this, to cover server expenses because bandwith was very expensive at that time. Heather also used this argument to not give creators any money for their creations because she said her intention was to save money to cover bandwith issues. She also promised to rotate all the site content to be free in different months what she ended not exactly doing but at that time she was using a lot of arguments to prove that the paysite was not for profit.
A few time later I left the site so I donīt know if they had other meetings with EA. I know by a friend that some months later Simfreaks made a special site to control what was posted at the main site and how creations were made and started to pay creators (and I got some "nice anonymous" mails telling me I was stupid leaving the site because they were making money). I saw also a note posted in a news site about "small business" with some screenshots of this new Simfreaks admin site.

(thanks for the zipped file, Lily)
Paleo, I think you dealt very well for someone who was dealing with a obviously non-balanced person as Atwa. I think she is scary.

Iīve been thinking here quiet in my corner if some legal action could be done against TSR. I suppose since is EA who have the game copyright, only them could move some legal action. I wonder if EA Europe have the same position as US EA. As far as I know EA Europe is very much independent than US EA. Brazilian games comes from EA Europe, not US EA and thatīs why our games have the same houses and configs than european games. They supported the users here in Brazil in several ways, supporting fans events, fight against piracy and paysites. I have no contact with EA Europe but I wonder if someone in Europe could try to contact them about TSR causing damage and sharing confidential information about their customers (because "all our games belongs to EA", "all TSR customers are first EA customers"). I donīt know how laws are in Sweden but one of EA Brasil concerns about paysites and custom content in general was the obligation to give technical support to custom content that brazilian laws enforce them. ops, Iīm not sure if this sentence is correct, what I mean is brazilian customers laws obligates EA to give support to custom content because is considered a derived product of the game itself. This was a big argument against paysites, as the copyrights infrigements. If someone pays for custom content, EA is obligated to give support (as example, fix borked meshes).
I think a contact with EA Europe asking about could be interesting.

It's free, the description doesn't say anythig about the skintone, but hair and clothes are not included (free by Adele <3)
I hate when paysites uses free content in any way.

Causing fights in public forums gives them attention.

Interesting. I thought the "drama queen" and "attention whore" here was me. Wink

can't even leave her in peace in a forum you're not interested in.

I'm not a noob, I'm just quiet.  I've been here almost two years and I read all the new posts everyday, I don't post because I'm intimidate by you guys.  I should have known better and I do sincerely apologize.  I don't follow her around, I didn't even realize who she was until I read the statement I quoted in my other post.  There were bad feelings on my part from a few incidents involving her and I let them spill over here.  I shouldn't have and, again, I apologize.  I shouldn't have brought old fight here.  I've learned my lesson and the next time I break my silence to post, I promise I will have something worthy to say.

I donīt have problems with any person, itīs the opposite, I enjoy immensely people from all places. I have sims friends from US, England, Australia, Sueden, Germany, France. I love diversity.

What bothers me a little bit is why people donīt contact me directly (there are several ways, I go to several boards) and donīt talk to me directly if they have any problem with me. I always answer to any person with politeness and I always try to work around any kind of issue even if contradicts my beliefs. Iīm not radical and I try to understand everyone the best I can. I donīt understand why some people thinks the best way to deal with me is public attack on boards. It is not. It makes me to fight and I am a good fighter. I learnt a lot in these years.

Also I donīt understand what some people want from me.  If someone wants me to appreciate paysites, itīs a lost cause. I detest paysites.

If someone wants me to stop to make sims stuff is another lost cause. I make sims stuff because I enjoy, itīs my hobby. I had problems with my sites and yahoogroups (I suffered a DDoS attack once, my site was hacked six months ago what caused me some money loss but I managed to put it up again and some of my yahoo groups were reported and deleted for "copyright violation" because they had sims files posted, can you believe?) but I never gave up. Iīm not a quitter.

I enjoy the game and to share my stuff. I donīt really feel bothered if some people thinks my stuff are crap. The downloaders likes my stuff and is what matters to me. You canīt please everybody all the time, anyway.

tipsywoozy I donīt know who you are. I have no idea what are you talking about but if you would like to have a conversation, Iīm open to this.

Is TSR the only thing that man does for a living?

It's unclear, as the company that owns TSR is another company that Thomass and the rest of the TSR staff own. His job is exactly the same thing on both sites - html and graphics.   Considering the amount of time he spends there, he's not doing much else, and TSR is his main income.

When it comes to earnings, conservative estimates are that minimum, TSR makes $500,000 a year gross - even if a minute percentage of members take out a subscription.  Take away say 200 payments of $300 for artists, and that still leaves an awful lot for administration and bandwidth.

What is it called when one diverts money from one company (Lets say TSR) & puts it into another company (The company that owns TSR) to make it look as if the money is actualy being made by said company?

This is a very good question. Let me see if I can correctly answer this one.

Maybe...

"Corruption, when applied as a technical term, is a general concept describing any organized, interdependent system in which part of the system is either not performing duties it was originally intended to, or performing them in an improper way, to the detriment of the system's original purpose.
Its terminological usage possesses connotations of evil, malignance, sickness, and loss of innocence or purity."

Hm. Maybe not.  Iīm not sure if I know this word in english.

"Fraud - Definition: Deception deliberately practiced with a view to gaining an unlawful or unfair advantage; artifice by which the right or interest of another is injured; injurious stratagem; deceit; trick. " Font: accute and reliable dictionary

I can be wrong, of course.

Iīm still reading Coconut updat  (sorry, slow reader and had to answer a couple of phone calls) and I apologize for the aparently n00b question but... Iīm the only one here who finds Shino&KCR avatar disturbingly pornographic?  Huh
I wonīt say anything about Thoma$$ house. I am a horrible builder at the sims but I can build something better than that in my game at any time.It disgust me that he is building a house at gamers cost.
