Yeah, its funny how the worst sims site there is, in TSR's eyes, has made it possible for their money scam to keep running. TSR does not think about things all they way through, once they get to a thought that make them look good and a competitor look bad, they stop the thought process, even if there is more to the thought then "We good, them bad."

One thing that I found funny in BlackGarden's rant was she said that the EULA referred to fansite tools only. First, how is it EA's tool if it is a fansite tool? But anyway ,if I make a tool for the sims, like that of SimPE, EA can't tell me what I can do with it, seeing as most of the time it only imports game information for reading, and some of the tool don't even do that, such as a family creator. And if she was not meaning the tools themselves, but the content that comes from the tools, then we get into another thing. If the content made from fansite tools can be put on paysites, then the objects TSR sells would be fine, if EA has control over the entire community and what they do, and we can see that they don't. But also she said that it could not be applied to the game or the official game tools because it could not be applied retrospectively, which I though the word you would use there was retroactively, but whatever. But if it could not apply to the official tools, such as bodyshop and homecrafter, and if that meant to content coming from said tools, then a good chunck of TSR's content would still be illegal. So all she really did is go in circles and not clear anything up, if anything she made what happens at TSR sound worse.
If BlackGarden was ever the spokeswoman for TSR, they would have so many legal problems and lose so much money.

By the sounds of what Edenstyle posted in their Creator's Camp blog, it sounds like we will have real custom content, how long though is to be seen.

Quote
Yesterday I joined CAS tips and tricks. Sims are more realistic and there are tons of sliders to modify their appearance. They showed us some great screenshots, with perfect shades. The good news is that they made them directly in the game, they didn't used any external tool to make Sims more realistic, like they used to do for Sims 2 (expecially for packages). About custom content, you cannot modify Alphas by default, but the CAS guru said that hackers would be able to do it.

But that is just about CAS. If that would extend to objects, to say the lest, it would be an improvement, other then the fact that hackers have to find a way to do it first, so really it seems its going to be The Sims 2 all over again.

I'm not sure how relevant this is to trying to get TSR shut down, but I'll post is anyway and see what you all think. I was reading the European Union PayPal User Agreement. Under restricted activities, which are defined as activities done in connection with your(TSR) use of our website(PayPal), your Account, or the Services, or in the course of your interactions with PayPal, a User or a third party, letter i states Use an anonymising proxy. So to my understanding it would mean that even when the person or people running a site were to do anything they could no use a proxy that hides who they are. If anyone wants to correct me on this, please do, and here is a link to the section of the User Agreement that I got this info from,  https://www.paypal.com/uk/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=xpt/UserAgreement/ua/EUUA-outside#restricted-policy

This is the Kwik Mart, a small store for all your sims needs. The creator said they made it for low end machines, but I have seen better stores that work great on low end machines. And really, even if you suck at building lots, you could build this in no more then 5 minuets.

This was done by Birgit. The thing that really got me was the sims's feet and hands. There is a reason we have covers on our sim's beds.

Tell EA to screw off. Don't buy Sims 3. Arr it instead. Don't give more money to them. The fact that they still support TSR...they're asshats, plain and simple.  The last bit of money they got from me was Seasons and since they started SecureShit and I found out about the Payshite bullshit I've not given them another dime and have absolutely no intention of doing so.

They can burn in the fiery depths of Hypocrisy Hell as far as I'm concerned.

I wouldn't even arr it because in an article a few months back it said that how the in game ads will be set up, even if you didn't buy the game and have an arred version of the game, EA would still get money from the ads. So in the long run you would be helping EA by getting an arred version.

I don't remember them ever being child friendly, to say the least. In The Sims 1 days it wasn't as much of worry about some outfits because the graphics were not the best in the world, but still, some things were just too showy for a so called PG-13 site.

Ms. Barrow's looks like the elementary schools im my city. TwoFlower's looks like a few of the older high schools in my city. For the most part the schools here are 2+ stories. A few of the new ones are only one story, but that is all.

It still amazes me that T$R has so much advertising on their site. A top banner and a side bar? Don't they make enough $$$ from the subscriptions??? Guess not...  Roll Eyes

What I find funny is there was someone on the TSR forums a few months ago talking about how TSR is better then Mod the Sims, and one thing they said was there are way to many ads on Mod the Sims. There are so many just to remind you that you aren't paying to get the downloads. The person went on to say that even as a free user on TSR, you don't have 1/2 the ads that are on Mod the Sims. So in other words TSR has less then 1/2 an ad, because I only remember seeing one ad on Mod the Sims. They also went on to say that the content on Mod the Sims is horrible, no talent and they let just anyone upload, and you can only download one thing at a time. I found that amusing too because I can download 10+ things at a time on there, but I don't do that that often.

As for the new layout, that is just horrible. And is it just me or are they taking a page out of Peggy's book on the new layout?

I have some showers in my game that came in some houses I downloaded, and they don't have the blur. I don't have the hack to get rid of the blur, so it has something to do with how it was made.

I've never heard of a shower that came without a blur. Maybe the censor removal hack was uploaded with the lot?

In the preview picture, you can see that there is visible ass on the Sim in the tub, so that means the creator had the censor removal hack. If the perv who made the objects sent him to the shower, there wouldn't be a blur, thus winning me a bottle of rum. Cheesy

That's what we were betting on, right? Whether or not the creator had the censor removal hack? If not, I am utterly confused. Tongue

Sorry to stay on the subject, but I don't have the hack to get rid of the blur. If I do then it's not working because there is only 1 or 2 showers I have that don't have the blur, everything else in the game has the blur. I'll see if I can get some pics of it.

Ok, I checked and I don't have it anymore. It was really messed up, it had no blur, the sims got in it through the shower's wall, and some other stuff was wrong.

If you can only get cc from the official site, then that would kind of give us EA's statement on paysites. The message they are basically sending would be "We don't care and don't want to deal with it, so you can only get content from us." On the disk in a section about the online community for The Sims 3 it talks only about the exchange and The Sims 3 store.

Sims 2 had an exchange, but that didn't mean content was exclusive - there are other fansites.  Seeing as they are selective about their creator camp to the point of stupid, and it seems that that hinges on paysite friendliness, I daresay they're going to shut out the whole "freesite" idea and just go with paysites.  Since paysites can hardly plead poor mouth to EA (although I've no doubt they will try), they can pay for the privilege, and pass that cost onto the customer through subscription fees. I mean, is it out of the question for EA to believe that they can continually get the fans themselves to chock up more dough?

But didn't the flyer for the creator camp state that all the content they create will be put on the exchange? It wasn't like they were saying they they would create cc and then take it home to post on their own site. And if you have to install the cc through the game launcher, I can see fan sites not being able to host content because they would more then likely need to have a special server that is connected to the game launcher, and I can't see EA just giving sites this server, that is too much of a security risk.

lol, anyone want to check to see if it has a blur or not?
644  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: More Smutty Than You: TSR's Hall of Shame on: 2009 January 06, 05:52:16
Nate, is it unethical to bet on something if you already know the answer? Tongue

Hmmmm.....I guess it would.

What I head about how cc for The Sims 3 is going to be is that you will only be able to upload and download from the official Sims 3 exchange. I am kind of leaning towards that because of the instructions on how to get that free style pattern that you could download after buying that Sims 3 preview disk from Target(hey it was only 99 cents, but really it should have been no more then 50 cents).
But anyway the instructions on how to download the pattern is:
1.Type in the website
2.Type in the code and click submit
3.Then open up the Sims 3 game launcher and select the style pattern  in the downloads tab and install.

The reason they are making a store for The Sims 3 is evident in the section about the history of The Sims. It talks about the Sims 2 store and how such a great success it has been.

But that is just my view on what EA is going to do with The Sims 3 CC. And I think The Sims 3 will be like Spore in sales, do good in the first week or two, then become one of the most pirated games ever, but we just have to wait to see.
