I was just browsing around on the official site when I came across this worrying news announcement regarding the creator camp.

We're holding The Sims 3 Creator's Camp here on campus this week. Check out the daily blog from our fansite - The Sims Resource.

The TSR chess thing is by Callisto who has long ago left TSR and is now a mod/admin at Natural Sims... I know its horible, but I don't think TSR will let her get rid of it.

That outdoor set seems extremely Atwa'esque to me. Shoddy meshes. The single-tone lime textures. Even the font used is the same as what Atwa used all the time. What was the creators name?

LOL! I just went on to TSR and it seems they've found a new way to get money from you. They've made the site borked if you use add blocking software, and told everyone to turn it off.

Now TSR will get MOAR money, because the sheeples can't block the ads if they want to use the site.

I suspect that EA chose creators for two reasons:  1.  They make the Maxis stuff actually look good and 2.  Didn't want any that they know where affiliated with PMBD.  Since we apparently have Sims 2 Store here.  That and things might get a little political.  (Like it won't do, anyway.)

*hits you over the head with a newspaper*  We don't have any Sims 2 Store items in the booty.  We never have.  Get it right.

Meanie said "Since we apparently have Sims 2 Store here." ~ eg. referring to the fact that maxis were misinformed that pes host the files, which isn't true.

Tis you who needs to 'get it right' before newspaper hitting commences.

Well... Kate @ Parsim is fairly talented, Decorgal is quite good. Many people love Shtinkey's stuff (Holy Simoly) ~ And Suza and Jope are popular aswell. Other than that, 0 talent.

Isn't Blacky's Sims 2 Zoo a paysite?

Piggi's has an announcement on the front page saying that everyone should support it.  Undecided

Yes, its a paysite, but many also consider it the *official* German site, just like we have MTS2 as our *official* site for the English language.

That makes more sense... 300 per 10,000 downloads was just ridiculous, even still... $11,000 pocket money for a hobby over 5 years is still a good sum of money. **Mumbles about greedy people and goes back to lurking**

Thanks Calalily, but I did redo my math on the idea on $10 per 10000 DL's based upon my Cashcraft example.

But since were looking at Sasilia here... look at her incentive point count:
3039880 points  divided by 10000 x 10
=$3039.88 USD

Thats a lot of money to earn from a hobby a few hours each night. Now we know that Thomas takes a ginormous cut of all profits. Say there 30 FA's, all averaging having made $4000 in the last 5 years thats 120,000+ that his artists are making. (Pulling #'s out of my ass here) ~Lets say that each subscriber Downloads 4000 files (That seems to be the community average on CC folder sized) in there 5 years at TSR. To get 120,000 $$'s worth of incentives the subscribers would have to download at least 300,000 files a year. (120,000 x 10,000 divided by 4000)

At 4000 DL's each, there would need to be at least 75,000 subscribers a year.

Current Subscription rate is 10USD a month or so, so 75,000 x 10 is 750,000
Thats approx. $620,000 that Thomas and co. have made from a GAME.

These figures are also grossly under because they don't even consider the countless ex FA's, Downloadaholics or the Sims 1 community predating TS2.

Thats gotta bump the figures well over 1.5 million USD of a website selling pixels for a game... all illegally.

Edit:/ Just went on TSR... apparently theres lots of FA's other 8 million downloads mark, Including Windkeeper who is over 22 million downloads. This makes my figures way under, I'm to lazy to redo it with new numbers so lets just double thomas's income and be done with it.

[megaphone]Calling all German taxation department workers!![/megaphone]

Something tells me thats not gonna work, surely someone here works in the American government... or knows someone working for various European taxation offices.

The other thing would be to do it in a way in which we do not stoop to there level, especially considering this is a public forum (kinda like the FA forum Tongue)

Again, if they think that we can dob them in and they can get in trouble... we may see a mass resigning among the FA's, especially the younger FA's who are a bit sheltered to the whole concept of tax. Perhaps even talking about this will be enough to 'rock the boat' among the FA's/Staff.

Good luck!

I know this is crossing the line a little...but would it be unethical to "dob them in"?
28  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: TSR Sharing your infomation! on: 2008 December 15, 04:20:02
Well, $500 US is quite a lot over here in Australia ATM. Something that cost 5 USD for example, would cost the same in Aussie dollars, except our currency halves in exchange rate. So really if the FA lived in Australia or a country with an economy in similar shape they would be earning $1000 a month local currency... equivalent to USD. So still, thats a lot of money.

Also, I wonder what kind a laws Germany have regarding tax declaration, as a large chunk of the FA's are from Germany. Maybe we could scare them a little   Roll Eyes

Even still, 500 hundred a month for 12 months of 5 years is (Grabs calculator) is $30,000. Even on a $300 a month cap its $18,000

These are ridiculously large sums of money... its also now easy to see why so many can be lured by TSR. I mean, I create the same amount as some FA's every month and spend about 6 hours a week doing it.

[more math]
300 divided by 4 = 75... divided by 6 =approx $12.50 an hour earned by an FA (On 300 cap)
500 divided by 4 = 125... divided by 6 =approx $20.00 an hour earned by an FA (On 500 cap)

Thats not bad for a hobby.
