Title: EA games using CC in game now?
Post by: naughty-nova on 2007 September 07, 23:28:53
I just found this thread at insim and thought it was funny. I have always wounderd how long it would be before EAxis started to use what we have made in the games. It might only be a photo now but makes me wounder what eles there is that we have not seen. And if they use anything from say TSR did they PAY FOR IT? lol

Ohh they point to the booty on the world map, then they use screenshots from MTS2. Yet, TSR claims they're the favs, maybe their telling TSR to bite them. lol

ETA: Delphy should put this right on the main page with bold letters EA loves US. Then Pes should put the map pic on the main page with bold letters EA loves US, nothing like rubbing a little salt in an open wound.

Ok here is another thought. IF EAxis has any CC in the game and it was from say TSR and they paied for it. Now it is in the game, is that not the same as what we do? lol Buy it and share with every one. I would love to find a mesh in there from TSR etc. But I did see a hair on a hostes in the hotel that looked like one from there. I will have to take a screen shot of it.

nope i was wrong =P

Also in Bon Voyage, one of the female hairs looks a little like Dr. Pixel's, I'm sure...but I might be mistaken...I'll get some comparison pics up somehow.

Okie, I'm sure I've seen these hairs somewhere.  I was really shocked when I saw them in Bon Voyage, and I would have had the hair, but Bon Voyage  borked my downloads folder (I know, backup...)

Meh, I don't know if it is just me, but it seems like I have seen stuff that looks suspiciously like custom content since at least the Nightlife expansion. Just hair and styles of clothes. Not exact duplicates, but like the guys at EA were inspired by someone's content.

Didn't the bath rugs that Echo made get replicated in Nightlife?  I am sure that EA has gotten bunches of ideas from the custom content that is out there.

Yeah, and it seems like some clothes and things reminded me of stuff I had downloaded. Not much of it was near exact, but very similar.

This looks like their own hair EA's, the hair they had on the Hillary Duff Sim they had up for awhile. I think she is over in the graveyard files.

There's a recent Maxis/EA made Sim (non Hilary Duff) over at the official site (http://thesims2.ea.com/exchange/sim_detail.php?asset_id=947806&view=maxis&search=1&asset_type=sim&hideFramework=&languageCode=&hideFramework=&languageCode=) with a new outfit that has that hair too.

I thought that Bon Voyage hair looked a lot like some CC I had seen too, but
it does have a resemblance to the Duff hair. They're both some of the better  EA hairstyles for sure.

It was a foreign version's celeb download's hair.  It was coverted for all ages and available on MTS2, and someone also did an animated version, I think.  That's the hair it reminds me of.

Only Nouk...lol Your hair does not look greasy. It's really not a bad hair once you get it in game. I don't use it a lot. In fact I think I've only used it once because I use mostly your hair, XM's or Raon's hair. Plus the fact I like LONG hair. (This is where Mando comes in and calls me vain, cause Zombies can't have long hair with their brians all out of their head and all. hehe)

I did the animated version; it was originally Maxis bonus hair for some Asian celebrity named Tata Young.  I was kind of pissed when I saw it in Bon Voyage, because it took me a lot of effort to get the animations right, and they've surely fixed it for the expansion.  Oh well.     I see that they didn't fix the overlap issue for the right side of the hair (model's right, viewer's left), which is a shame because that fix was easy.

EAxis: "Original? Who us?" *shifty eyes*

Always knew they stole their ideas (even from themselves).

HawkGirl, you are so vain! Please think of the zombies!

I'm quite fond of Nouk's hair textures (long and otherwise), too. Nouk, if you think your work looks too greasy you've been probably staring at it for too long. Take a break and get a coffee (oooh, or a doughnut!).

It's still not animated, they didn't fix it at all.

What's Will got to do with it? He doesn't even own Maxis anymore, EA does. The only credit Wright gets is something like "Created by" or something. Something that doesn't give him complete credit.

Properly binned hair has been used to generate townies/etc. for as long as there's been properly binned hair. It's not new to BV.

Yes they can. It's easy with Theo's color binning tool. It takes about 3 seconds longer than it takes to load SimPE. There's no excuse for creators not to do it. And yet those who ask for money never seem to.

Yes, and the saddest part is that Theo's colour binning tool does not work form me. Either SimPe crashes, or it will not bin the hairs correctly. I am stumped. :( It has got to be my computer, since I follow the tutorial religiously and I know that Theo's tool works for other people.

So, I know there is a way to bin hair correctly, but I cannot do it!
Drives me insane.

I was having a crashing issue with the plugin (which confused the hell out of me, because I've used it for ages), and redownloading it seemed to do the trick.

You can bin hair manually in SimPE, too, and it doesn't take all that long...however it's a bit tedious if you're anal like me and rename all the textures in the package to reflect the bin color.

Thankies, Quinctia. I'll try downloading the tool again and see the other tutorials from MTS2 about binning, if it still does not work for me.

Ohh, how I wish Maxis would have made bodyshop user friendly and useful instead of the half-assed version we have now.

It should have mass delete -option, easy "change outfit category" -option, orphan mesh scanner, orphan texture scanner, view and delete all textures with linked meshes simultaneously -option and easy hair binning option.

It is like they made things hard for regular user on purpose.

ETA: Stupid typo. Stupid broken keyboard.

I redownloaded the tool about 5 times, it still doesn't work for me. It always makes an empty package, or doesn't do anything. I just do everything by hand.

I love the color binning tool, I took pages and pages of hair and color binned them all in like 10 minutes. All that is left in my CC pages is green and blue hair for my fantasy/alien Sims.

Alia, I had a hard time following his directions on MTS2. Did you go to his webpage for better directions? That's what I ended up doing and it went quick after that.

Yep, I was following the tutorial on his homepage, but I just got empty packages, like Nouk, or SimPe crashed. :(

I need to try the newly downloaded version as soon as I have played BV enough. :)

Maxis using cc is nothing new.  Back in the sims 1 days they took creator made outfits.
