1  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: Your Prettiest Freesite Creation Find: Round Two (Apparently) on: 2009 April 13, 16:24:10
I saw this amazing work of art at some Sims 2 `finds`site (which I doubt is a pay site) and was in love, but considering I have no clue how to read Korean or Japanese, I'm out of luck and sad. Can you even download this?! How did he even built it? I'm just in awe...and want everyone to see its beauty.

In case you're still looking for this...

This is Curio's blog, a famous Korean lot builder. You can find more information about her at Sims Cave. There is a very long WCIF thread devoted entirely to her lots.

The blog only serves as her showcase for her lots. The actual downloads are available at her Daum cafe. Surprisingly, Daum account is not required.

From Simslice (and will probably bork your game), NOT really a pirate ship or pirate-y at all:
Looks like SimSlice blocked hotlinking, the image does not show up for me.

A fug indeed.

I drink nothing but Twinnings Earl Grey nowdays;
Aww, good stuff. I love Lady Grey too. Too bad that Twinings is rather hard to find where I live. Or good tea in general, for that matter. I was very disappointed when the only Harrods tea shop in the city was pulled out.  Sad I prefer Twinings, but I do have a soft spot for their English Breakfast.

I prefer tea to coffee, but that's not to say that I don't love coffee. I love my coffee hot and black, just like my avatar. Cheesy

Seriously though, pwning Buntah cannot be a great feat. Any half-decent object creator can easily pwn Buntah's crap. Comparing Buntah with Buggybooz is almost insulting to Buggybooz! Tongue

It's not even clear whether the owner actually received threats or not. The owner only vaguely said that something is bothering him/her.

Sorry for necromancy, but an important notice was posted on this Asian Booty site.

Looks like the site owner was having some trouble with paysite stuff. (Like receiving legal threats from paysite owners? It is unclear from the post.)
Already uploaded stuff will remain open to everyone, but most of new stuff will be friends-only. (You'll need an Empas account to befriend this blog.)
A new notice will be up when this change actually takes place.

It should also be noted that Sims fandom is an anomaly in the whole video game scene. If you've been around video game scene before you've ever encountered Sims, you would have realized that charging for custom game contents is a totally abhorrent, unthinkable thing in any other video game fandoms except for Sims. However, Sims is often the first (and often the only) video game many players encounter, thus they accept the vile paysite policy as the norm.

I played several excellent custom scenarios for NWN. Some of them are just amazing, with rich details and intricate storylines, you can only wonder how much love the creator must have poured into creating them. And did they charge even a penny for their contents? Hell no. Free sharing of custom game contents is the esprit de corps in video game fandom, and I detest vehemently those greedy bastards who corrupted it in Sims community for good.

Back to pwnage. The KitchenBasic set is simply gorgeous. One of the best Kitchen sets in the entire Sims community, free or pay. Buggybooz even updated the fridge to be compatible with all EPs.

Lovely free hair by adele

Vs WTF from the Sims 2 Store
<snip>

That's quite a blatant rip-off on EAxis's part. Not that it's something unprecedented, but still.

Does this creator have an inkling as to how conservative North Korea really is? In one South Korean underwear factory located inside Kaesong Industrial Region of North Korea, the South Korean factory manager was forced to assign all packaging job exclusively to female workers, because the packaging boxes sporting women clad in lingerie were too "obscene" for male workers to behold. Cheesy

I really love Macarossi's plants, they're so beautiful. I use them almost in every lot. Smiley

I present you this pile of manure from Simslice.

Simslice's Community Beds (I boldened 's' intentionally)

Quote
Up to forty-four (44) visitor-enabled beds. Use at home for yourself or your guests to sleep in... or use it to spend the night on Community Lots or other away-from-home locations. The "Sleep" option was adjusted so that it can be used anytime, not just when Energy levels are lower. Sims can also sleep in the buff anytime they want. Also just for fun, any Sim will be able to "Tuck In" any other Sim regardless of age. Updated April 2006 to be completely forward and backward compatible for those that had issues after installing OFB, and 33 additional color options added.

ONE cloned hacked bed that looks identical to Maxis Colonial bed, which cannot even use custom beddings (not to mention other Maxis beddings added by later EPs!) or recolors of original bedframe? What happened to good old repository technique? "A total of 44 different beds" my arse.

Compared to this excellent global mod by our ModFather himself:

Sleep on Community/OFB/Vacation lots - Global Hack

Quote
  • It's fully compatible with any game configuration, from base-game up to Bon Voyage (tested in vacation lots, too); the hack will recognize your game version and will act accordingly.
  • Full support for Sleep and Nap on any (Maxis or custom) bed, sofa, loveseat, recliners/long chair and coffin; none of the mentioned hack would allow napping on long chairs or coffins (one enables the sofas, though).
  • Full support for Sims, Servos, Vampires and Pets.

Although Numenor's mod doesn't have hacked functions of Simslice bed (e.g. sleeping even when energy bar is full), I'd choose Numenor's mod over Simslice crap any day.

Extra Deco Slots for most Maxis furnitures.

You know you want it

Compared to the Anoeska desk just for FT, that LordDarcy had to fix *anyway*

<snip>

To be fair, Anoeska's "Maxis More Functional" superset adds decorative slots on EP dressers and vanity tables as well. (But not the ones from SPs.) And those sets are not just about decorative slots newly created on Maxis furniture, as they include other things like cloned FT electronics or modified Seasons coat rack. You can keep mine for decorative slots, and cherrypick other things from her sets. I have no use for an identical clone of sewing machine when you can clutter it with end table OMSPs to your heart's content.

I was more annoyed by the ridiculously looooong file names found in her sets. And separating the fixes one by one into tiny packets. WTF. If you want decorative slots at all, you want them on ALL objects, not just on one dresser.
Of course, being TSR, it would make more sense for FAs to eke their products out into several different sets, rather than offering them as one single download.  That way, it would be easier to meet their quota. Roll Eyes

For anyone interested, here is a little guide to use built-in search engine inside Asian Booty site.

1. Scroll down to the bottom of page. You'll find this box in the left frame.

Don't change the default setting of the dropdown box, it's already set "inside this blog only".
Enter keyword (or exact phrase) in the search box and press grey "search" button.

The built-in search function kinda sucks. You have to enter only one keyword, or exact phrase to get the desired result.
E.g. if the topic title is Xandher > Casanova Hair Collection
"Xandher" "Casanova" "Casanova Hair" (without quotation marks) will work, but "Xandher Casanova" won't.

2. Search results will be displayed like this.

3. Scroll down to the bottom of the page to find the attachment.

Korean sites are notorious for utter disregard of cross-browser compatibility, which I hate with a passion.
File names with spaces will be mangled in most non-IE browsers when you click to download.
Copy the entire filename (including extension) to the clipboard. Click to download, and paste the filename into the Save as... box.

7z.00x files can only be opened with 7zip. Other file archivers like WinRAR may not be able to open them properly.
13  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: Asian booty??? on: 2008 July 01, 10:41:42
Doesn't this make it untenable for most other sites to use this system, since most websites WOULDN'T have that kind of resource or coding ability?

The law is only applied to about 30-50 big sites with over a half million hits per day. Korean people tend to flock to just a few big portals (Naver and Daum) which literally rake money from ads. Those sites can very well take the blunt.

I would imagine such information just floating around the network is a goldmine for identity thieves. All you have to do is set up a site, and the moment a user registers, you steal all their info.

Well, you cannot get wetter when you're already immersed in the water up to your eyebrows. The entire nation treats people's personal information and privacy like a used bathroom paper, including government officials themselves. The never-to-be-sufficiently-accursed current ruling party is already trying to suppress freedom of speech on the internet by extending the said law to the lesser sites. Your personal information is already up for sale the moment you sign up for a phone or a credit card. Unless you choose to live like a Neolithic man without a phone or a credit card, there is no way to avoid this nation-wide trap. By now I'm quite resigned to this fact of life. The only thing that I can do is guarding my new phone number like a hawk to receive fewer spam calls.
14  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: Asian booty??? on: 2008 July 01, 05:01:07
Too bad that you need an Empas account to post requests, which I do not have. (And I'm not going to, Korean portal sites are TEH EVIL which are required by some 1984-esque local law to ask Korean equivalent of Social Security number just for registering. Angry)
...and people don't just lie? Who'd be daft enough to post such sensitive information to the Internet for everyone to see? There's no possible way they could validate this information without either connecting to some central (and probably frequently crashed) server, or comparing locally for some checksum. And if that information is public knowledge, keygens similarly exist.

You CAN'T lie, as the said portal sites check the authenticity of information against the DB supplied by credit information companies. I used to lie (using the keygen) all the time, until the law was bolstered to force portal sites to check the authenticity. Now I just don't bother with them. I said it was 1984-esque.

Heh, very interesting find indeed. Being a Korean myself, it's sooo refreshing to find fileshare-friendly Korean site for a change.

The biggest Korean Sims community is out and out pro-paysite. It's sickening to see some 12s asking for help in translating English instructions of Paypal to register their mommy's credit card. Roll Eyes Or paying via their cell phone, for most Korean teenagers own a cell phone, and it's so much easier than asking their mommy for permission.

If I ever mentioned PMBD in that site, I'd be ostracized on the spot.
After the recent drama in which the owner of said community Souped, making the entire community with over 270000 members read-only, the new community is now run by one of EA Korea employee. Ugh.

In the FAQ section, the owner of this Asian Booty site said that he/she may not be able to add TSR files anymore, as his/her subscription will expire shortly. That post was dated 2008/03/24.

Too bad that you need an Empas account to post requests, which I do not have. (And I'm not going to, Korean portal sites are TEH EVIL which are required by some 1984-esque local law to ask Korean equivalent of Social Security number just for registering. Angry)
