The register is busted...watch the high school kids head explode when she tries to grasp why I am paying 20.01 for an item that costs 12.51 and what amount of change I should get.

Witness the total inability to understand basic math with relying on a machine to give the answer.

Ok, so what is the alternative?  Seriously.

What suggestion is there to that kids can 'learn' and not simply 'memorise'; although rote memorisation is considered passe, it does have its merits.  In what way can a school test the child to determine where they are at academically?  Because you have to have some standard testing to ensure that school X grades are essentially the same level as school Y grades.   This is true for business (a B+ in English should ensure a certain level of proficiency) and higher education (colleges need to know that a B+ from school X is the same as a B+ from school Y for academic purposes.

While I can understand the importance of learning as a good in itself, schools and society as a whole need to know where a student is in the understanding and retention and explaining what they know.

I know it is difficult to admit that you were deceived, you were manipulated, you screwed up and made seriously wrong choices...and nobody wants or likes to admit those failures, but you need to wake up and look at Thoma$$ and TSR for what it is: a lying, hurtful and morally bankrupt organization.

You may have sold your dignity for TSR money, you may have sold your pride to protect yourself from admitting you were wrong...but in the name of all that's holy and good in yourself, don't abandon or sell your soul to Thoma$$.  The last ounce of goodness and decency still remains in most of the FA's and TSR people, I am sure of that...don't throw away that remaining humanity selling pixels and your human dignity for some greedy cult-master.
