Title: TSR - a new low?
Post by: Hecubus on 2008 February 01, 17:28:14
Today, TSR announced a new Featured Artist: Blackgarden.

Blackgarden is the proud creator of....

::::drumroll::::

FUNNEL HAIR!

I have NO IDEA why she got promoted...her stuff is utter shite. I wonder if she gives good head...no other good reason for Thomass to promote her! But, there it is.

Ok, as weird as it sounds I can understand how this has happened. He just doesn't have the creator pool to draw on that he used to.. think about it this way, most of the really decent creators have seen the TSR threads at this point and think Thomas and TSR,umh, suck. This wasn't the case a year or two ago. So they're left with people who create boring game console replacements to draw on.

Does that model really have a goatee, or is that a shadow?  Not that it makes any difference--that is the WORST hairstyle I have ever seen.  Ever.  Ever, ever, ever.

<must now drink coffee and eat cookie to get horrible picture out of mind...>

P.S.  I would only give that hairstyle to a Sim that I hated so I'd feel better about killing them...

Title: TSR - a new low?
Post by: Saraswati on 2008 February 01, 17:46:42
no, it's just someone who doesn't know how to spend a little time and model a realistic face in bodyshop.. that's ok, because even if they had, it would still look like shit due to the hairstyle..

I mean there's a place for this type of hairstyle if you were doing Elvira Mistress of the Dark, but human hair does NOT naturally form that bump at the top when you do this to it.

She's bad.  Really really bad.  She also seems to have a hippie hair for men, featuring a black electroshock band.

I note that TSR didn't tout their close relationship with EA, what with not getting an invite to the Freetime preview.   Tom Ass's friends in higher places rap is stymied by happenstance.  :D

Title: TSR - a new low?
Post by: Saraswati on 2008 February 01, 18:07:17
I noticed that this time.. they stuck to Snooty, which I have no complaints with because they are the kings of giving out reliable information and are at least free and the usual smattering of obscure European English as a Second Language sites..

We're actually not going to know EA's true attitude to paysites until we find out what the CC system is with Sims 3. If it's one which anyone can do and which encourages sharing again, then it's not so much that they're in any way a friend to paysites, they're just being "Auntie Muriel that doesn't want to get involved"..

Thomass has friends in higher places? May one believe that he has accepted religion of some sort into that sad, sordid life that he has? He has seen the light and love of a higher.... naaaaaaaah, couldn't be, he's still the same rat bastard we all love to hate! And he proved it by promoting the person who created the flattened cone-head...

Thing is, though, there ARE some decent creators there, so the pool isn't totally drained. However, I wonder if, like Mira, many of them have firmly said 'keep my stuff free or I leave'... in which case, you ARE only left with the bottom feeders.

I think maybe a good solid chunk of the decent FA's are ones who've been around for a while on that site. And I know I'll get kicked for saying this because she's noone's favourite person around here, but I've always had a soft spot for Neptune Suzy's stuff, for example.

Anyone know how long that person been at TSR.

I only uploaded there about 1 and a half year when Steve asked me to be FA in Sims 1 ( when they still has that 'rotation'. ).

Because no hairmesher, no matter how bad, should ever be free. Because, what if the person gets better and has higher demands? Hair is very popular, and you don't want to be paying too much to the creator if you want to cash in nicely.

Her own personal chamber pot, maybe, easily carried for when emergencies hit? All wrapped around with something to match her hair so it isn't that noticed so readily like something decorated with blue flowers would be. Invisible tie strings go under the chin, of course.

Some of his stuff is almost good.  I'd take the NES and I already have the Zelda CC, but mostly because I'm so gay for Zelda I'd smother myself in absolute shit for it.

The rest of it... I have most of those consoles in actual good quality for free.  I think... I don't even remember anymore.

Well I have noticed that lately the thing that seems to be all the rage at TSR is releasing so-called "Super-Sets". It's nothing new, just what it says, all the recolours lumped together in one large zip or rar for download.

As for the male hair in question, I just sort of assumed that the Sim was pissed off with his hairdo and wanted a makeover...........am I wrong? :D

Well, that is so much less offensive than their practice of posting the recolors one at a time. That seriously annoys me. And I don't even download from there.

I could understand if she was a free creator and just starting out. I'm just starting out at CC myself and can't even mesh my way out of a bag.

However, the fact that she's an experienced FA at TSR and expecting money for that hair is scary.

I can't believe the stuff TSR is resorting to. I won't lie. I loved them back in the TS1 and very early TS2 days. But since TS2, they have been terrible. The majority of their downloads arent good (my opinion anyway), their business ethic sucks, and they keep promoting the worst artists to FA.

CaptainJojoba I didn't say I had a soft spot for Suzy as a human, just as a creator.. And even then, with the remodel we're doing of Sublime, even the meshes from her free site are getting purged from my content along with anything else that is part pay..

I remember that post you just posted the screenie, that was slightly before she tried to convince all of the free site moderates (pro free but not pro booty) that she was saintly and misunderstood and only hung around TSR because of her "buddies".. Yeah, it was one of the best moments in community drama - Suzy had not just been here but also at S3C and I THINK Insim or SFV (I could be wrong), attempting to be sweetness and light. There are many-pages-long threads discussing the paysite issue, with Suzy attempting to be open and generous and 'seeing our point'. And then someone whipped out that screenshot and the girl could do nothing but disappear back behind the 'iron curtain'.

If anything good came out of it besides major butthurt (which is always good), it is that more poeple really understood the greed that permeates the paysite community. People are less likely to trust paysite creators.

Huh, so the fact that it's old doesn't even matter.

It's going to take me a while because I'm going through each item that uses pay stuff and literally redoing it. I do regret the fact I'm going to have to take out the 2 for U stuff too and replace it.. I like Biene's stuff and there's only one or two donation sites. Yes, bait is a normal term in the marketing/selling business.

You know the term "Bait and Switch?" (which is illegal and unethical. But that has never stopped a paysite owner.)

I remember that thread fondly. When I saw her playing with us on both here and insim, I called bullshit on her "sweetness and light" and got a lot of grief from it but then someone posted that screenshot and I was totally vindicated. It was sweet.

It's the lawyer in me.  I have captures of comments made on the EA site, comments made on Insim, comments made anywhere I think they're controversial, and PMs whereever I think there might be lies.  Then if they're deleted, I done got the proof.

For example, I have pm proof that two of the Simbella's moderators knew that I am a pirate from PMBD, and I have the whole thread where they banned someone for mentioning SFV, I have Jan related craziness. I intend to be the new ry.

Title: TSR - a new low?

Ah but with Simbellas you need to account for the "lalalala" factor.. as in if they can put their fingers in their ears and pretend it's not happening, then of course they must be right..  It's not the actual act of being a pirate that gets you banned, it's talking about it..

It's a common term among all types of scammers (just ask Neptune Suzy). If more legitimate businesses use it, they sure as hell don't want to get caught doing it (just ask Neptune Suzy).

You've already mentioned baiting a mouse trap, but fishermen also use bait to catch fish. Some hunters use bait as well. And last but not least, Norman Bates was a very scary psycho who used a motel room as bait in order to murder his victims after peeping at their bosoms.

TSR subscribers - you've been warned.

I don't know - just the fact that she did more than post pics of the general room makes me think that she believes there are people who worship her or generally care about the little things in her life.  I mean, are people really interested in what books she has yet to read and her sink full of dirty dishes?  I guess we're lucky she doesn't have a cat, or if she does, did not choose to post pics of a litterbox needing to be cleaned.

I don't think they did. I was under the impression that this discussion took place in a private forum and someone who had access there (forgot his name) posted it for all to see. I could be wrong, but that's how the story reached me.

Completly disgusting. Stealing people's creations is bad.. but charging for them when you could get them for free from the creator herself...is low. Utterly Utterly low. There is a special place in hell reserved for such thieves, who do not only spit upon the artist but the community itself.

Lynch em! Walk the plank!

As for A-twat, she finds herself utterly mesmerising and interesting. She is an idol to be worshipped like the Egyptian goddess she is. There is nothing wrong with A-twat, she is just wonderful.
Bleeerrrrgh. In denial much? I could care less about her place, I have my own life. And since I am a neat freak I can say one thing... woman needs to do some serious soul searching if she is allowing herself to live in such squalor.

Wait...she has no soul, right?

BTW I don't care if you guys live in an untidy tornado, because that's your business and you have managed to keep it your business by not posting it on the interweb. Atawt nails herself onto the web so she can have meaning in her life. And whats worse, she charges your for the priviledge. The woman is a monster.

Sorry, I sort of disappeared. I started drawing agian.. and I thought that would NEVER happen. Hell froze over indeed... so I was drawing for a bit. But I'm still doing my mods so no worries.. it's just taking longer because of my break.

Anyways.. wow.. the forum all changed up.. and I get to witness new FA goodness.
w00t. (okay.. LAST part was sarcasm)..

Seriously.. wtf.
But I agree with Nouk. Hair meshers are rare. And any decent ones are either free and hate TSR OR they are pay and have their own websites and are not members of TSR.

So what's left???? shit. But hair is so popular.. that the very very few crappy hair meshers on TSR win auto spotlight for even making hair period.
I'm not surprised actually. Shitty hideous new hair meshes seem to outweigh other types of mods that are way higher quality.. because they are hair. :/

I don't think so, amazone, many seem to be missing their custom titles. I think the old fart hasn't gotten around to putting things in all the way just yet when it comes to those. I just wish it didn't look so much like a MATY clone. Please, sir, may we have more forum layouts to choose from??

Thanks paden for answering :) MATY is like a jungle to me.  :-\ So many threads, but i have got a lot of help there too.
I miss Gwendolyn and my title

Okay, i am sure this superduper phorum will work fine for the damm pirates here. WE've got a newer ship, that's all.

We've just got to get used to the newness.  I am throwing myself in with gay abandon.  :D I'm quoting and everything, fiddling with settings and things.

W00t! I've just discovered there's a proper posting history (which means I can stop giving myself a headache remembering the title of every thread I've posted to!) and email notification settings!

On the downside, I've noticed that every single thread on this board has been marked as "new".  :'(

I think all but one of my custom eyeshadows are LaPink, and I know that all of my custom eyeliners/mascara are. I do edit the eyeshadows a bit because I hate shadow on the bottom lid, but the way she does hers makes them so incredibly easy to edit...it's not the shapeless messy glob I'd come to expect from the TSR "artists" textures I'd messed with before.

Look at the bottom of the page and there's a button "Mark as Read." Just hit it and that will clear all that out without having to go through each and every thread.

The new site isnt that hard to navigate, we even have new smilies and stuff. I wish we had bigger inboxes and titles but.

The layout sucks. It works for MATY but it's kinda weird for PMBD.
