EA haven't confirmed anything official. I know about all the letters, I even wrote them one myself.
So I'm not sure, that we can say "EA confirmed", before they make say this official, not in private chats.
I've asked them if they are going to make an announcement against paysites.
That's what they replied :
Electronic Arts does plan to make an announcement regarding custom content and pay sites in the near future. Unfortunately, I can't say at what point that will be at this time as we are reviewing all aspects of custom content built outside of EA Tools. However, its say to say that any content created with Bodyshop or Homebuilder would fall under the EA Sims EULA.
It's like neither "yes" nor "no". I guess if everything was so simple - they were not thinking for so long.
Really  ? 'Cos I remember I read this thing somewhere (I believe it was NoukieSims), a letter were this guy from EA said that selling stuff made using EA tools is against US copyright law.
*search for it*
Here it is, Nouk posted it on her site.
"
If you use a tool created by Electronic Arts and wish to charge money for the content created with that tool afterwards, then you are in violation of US Copyright Law. Several countries share and/or recognize US copyright law."
I thought the guy was pretty much saying that paysites are considered illegal by EA Games.
It would be quite embarassing for me if I got it wrong, 'cos since when I read that I've been going around saying paysites are illegal.
Erm.
Yes, I read this letter too. I guess they had a talk with some specialists in law after that. Because when I wrote them my letter they weren't so sure about on who's side they would be in their final announcement.
Actually there is one thing. You can't "create" stuff in bodyshop. You can only export and import files. Creating always does in other programs. So I think that's what they are thinking about for so long.
I hope they will announce that all the .package files are their own, and we cannot sell them.
But. I am telling you that we shouldn't be very happy now and yell everywhere that EA confirmed something. We can do that _only_ when EA officially announces that on their site.
Not in fanmail.
