OR set up a server on my old computer...
It's a AMD Athlon 2200 +, 1gb RAM, 80 gb harddrive. I'd need a higher upload speed from my internet provider. Probably not worth it if I can just upload to Insimenator and MTS2.

Seriously, Nouk, if your bandwidth need is not more than 200 Gb/month, I can gladly host your site for free; it's on a very good hosting provider, no bullshit about CPU loads or similar stuff.
The only costs it should require would be a 5$ setup fee for domain transfer, and 1$/month if you want your own IP; if you don't need a personal ip, no additional 1$/month.
I would not recommend directly that provider (Pair) as a host because it's not cheap, but it's a quite professional provider. I have that account for other purpouses, and a lot of its resources (expecially bandwidth) are wasted, so it would be totally not a problem to share them with you, host your site, your files, in part or whole, just ask.

Never, EVER, pay for a so-called 'domain transfer', that is completely unnecessary and dangerous to put the keys to your entire operation in the hands of the same people. Nouk: If you want to move to a better server, I can just put you up here. Get in touch with me and I probably even get your existing tab bumped towards renewal. No bitching: I monitor all that myself, so you get a direct line to me. Not sure why you're running into these odd issues. |
