Free Stuff for Your Games

 This is a complete listing of all of the currently active TS1, TS2, and TS3 custom content, and modding sites from the bookmarks I use at FreeSimsFinds. This includes sites for hard to find free and pay items, mod/hack/programming sites, and current custom content sites. Many of these are forums that you will have to register for, while others may use some meshes from paysites as the basis for their work. If I am missing any sites in this list please just leave a reply in this thread so that I can add the site to my running list. This is especially true of international sites as I am sure that there are many smaller sites outside the U.S and the U.K that I didn't list

The listing also gives the site URL, the type of content on the site e.g. Bodyshop/CAS. Buy/Build Mode, Storytelling/Machinama (Sp), and whether or not the sites are active (updates within the last 6 months) or inactive. Inactive sites are still on the list either because the creator has not yet moved the contents of the site to the Sims2Graveyard or CTO Occasions, or because they offer content that is well loved by community members e.g. Sims in Paris, or useful to creators and builders like Echos Sims Stuff and Aussie Topenders.

These links will be updated whenever people post new links that are appropriate for the site list are posted in this thread. Enjoy! Warning this will be a VBT for you downloads, mods/packages, or GameDate/Objects folders.

Link Submission Guidelines

Obviously- We are PMBD- No Paysites !

Asian Sites are acceptable if the site is open to the public. This means that friends only Daum Blogs, and  Locked Forums that exchange content for points e.g. Gamesir are not acceptable. The reason behind this isn't that the stuff is not free- it is that it is not easily  accessible for downloaders. Also watch your file formats, some Asian sites use .Alz, .oo or other unsual file formats for their compressed files that people in Europe or the United States don't commonly have access to so they might not be able to download from the site. There really isn't a point to posting links for content people can't get because they can't open the files.
Foreign Language Sites are Acceptable- currently we have Polish, Russian, German, Spanish, French and Italian links on the list.

Unless the site contains content that is very popular - e.g. SIP, please do not submit links for inactive sites. This is because when these sites are closed- the content will probably disappear if it is not moved to the Sims2Graveyard, CTO, or one of the Yahoo Save the Sims groups  From past experience this only tends to happen with larger or more popular Sims Sites, and this means they will be unsupported if people lose meshes, or recolors they will be screwed.

Links from all 3 Sims Games as well as any 100% free custom content created for the Sims Stories Series (I know their is stuff both for Life Stories and Castaway- it is just limited) is acceptable, as are links to hack/mod/tools sites if I missed the important ones, as well as creator/modder resources and support like texture sites and tutorials.

NEWLY OPENED SITEs Okay so we have all seen what happened with the Sims 3, a bunch of new sites opened, and they were free when they opened- but then they went pay,  so far this includes Lorandia Sims and a few other sites, and sites that were pay for Sims 2, like XMSims and SimPlan-X have yet to release any pay or donation content. When submitting links for Sims 3 unless it is from a trusted community member like for instance Oepu, don't submit any links til the site has been up for awhile.

We can't assume just because a sparkly new site is free now that it will be in the future. The same thing goes for paysites that are currently free- actually don't submit links at all for the moment on paysites that are still free for TS3- they may still have donation packs for Sims 1 or Sims 2 and that at least in my book would make them pay because pay is pay until they donation sets are completely released as free content.

Finally, check the list first, I have just updated it and a lot of your suggestions over the last few months have already made it onto the updated list. If you cannot open Word Docs let me know and I can get the list uploaded in a .pdf, or .txt file extension

Thanks FreshPrince- Thanks Kenmtl no problem I have been wanting to do this for awhile after seeing all but the most popular veteran creators get ignored in updates or by a lot of finds sites- so this is fun for me- Not necessarily good considering what downloadaholic I am, and probably not good for people who view the updates. Most of these I either ran across in Prettiest Freesite, Freesites Pawn Payites, through other finds sites, or from the people over at GOS. The LJ communitiesI knew about from having an LJ account. Other sites have simply collected over the years. I actually just cleaned out my bookmarks section to remove sites like Pixel Dolly, NoukieSims, Doursims, and other sites that have disappeared or gone inactive. To show what a downloadaholic I am my TS2 downloads file is 14,000 files strong (and that is after cleaning out all 5,000 or so  TSR, Lianna Sims, Raon Sims, and Peggyzone crap from the days when I did not care if something was pay for free) . Currently my TS3 packages file is standing at about 200-300 files excluding store stuff and stuff downloaded in TS3 packs - and the loading time is still fast,

This is one of my favourite sites, it's for sims 2 and 3, and it's free. I adore residences or community buliding and replacements made by Danuta720   It's Polish but the most important parts are in English too!

It might help you out dstar if you had the sites sorted by what language they are and alphabetical order. I know it would be tedious to do now, but it would be easier for people to see what sites you do/don't have, and it would be easier for people who speak multiple languages to find sites to help you navigate. Nice list though. I thought my bookmarks were long.

Thanks for the sugggestion MissBonbon - I have actually been thinking of transferring the list into Excel which would alpahbatize for me - and then listing by language. It might take awhile before the list is edited though.

Thanks for the links everyone - I will edit this post later with a mediafire link for the updated list.

I keep paysites  separated out from freesites  -one reference tag for each- the only paysites I ever bother with in terms of downloading even the free stuff at  are ATS and Holy Simoly. ( I admit it I like their stuff, I'd rather they went free though)  The rest are point and snicker sites - " Tee hee heee look at the flood fill and bad meshing" and ammunition for the Ugliest Paysite Finds and More Smutty Than You - I will also be using them for comparison posts e.g. SA99's Medieval vs Maylins Medieval sets on the LJ finds community.

Also Sailfindragon set the site up with it's own domain name and home outside of Livejournal- I don't have much up yet but here is the link- it is a work in progress - http://www.freesimsfinds.com . So if you don't use LJ for whatever reason (don't like social networking comms, don't support them since they got bought by Six Apart and Went Corporate etc) The finds will also be posted on the Wordpress site starting tomorrow.

That Is okay I added the pay ones to my paysite bookmarks for when I do pay vs free comparison. AnezPlace may do the photoskinning but unlike Peggy, Liana, Amasims, AnnamariaSims, and Rosesims they do  it well . I am trying in terms of finds to present a fair balance of Maxis match, photoskinned, uber realistic, anime type Sims,  Goth, historical content , modern, classic etc ,clutter for those that love it , Maxis Add on for those that love it etc. I am trying to cover as wide a range of freesites as possible. It will be fun since I also went live on Wordpress for those that don't like or want an LJ because of Six Apart and their restrictions - I may simply post things as links at LJ, or will x-post finds on both, or do different finds on both it depends on what I have available for time.
