I finally gave in and signed up on Insane Journal.  Paleo, my username is the same as it is here.

I'm really furious that livejournal is so quick to delete accounts based on absolute bullshit.  I guess because some dumbass throws around words like "defamation" and "slander" without knowing what they mean, that's good enough for the monkeys who run livejournal.  Being legally minded, I'm tempted to take a long look at their terms of service and see it I can poke any holes in their practice of blindly suspending people's accounts.

The problem with sites like Livejournal is that their TOS allows them to circumvent the first amendment (and any equivalent laws guaranteeing the right to free speech). And yes, there is something in there saying that they can suspend/ban for whatever reason. It really sucks. I hope they do the right thing.

Also, eheh. Maybe this has changed, I haven't paid much attention the past two years or so, but LJA don't really ever "do the right thing"

True, but if their actions violate their own terms of service, you can at least cause them a little butthurt by throwing those terms of service in their face.  The squeaky wheel, as they say, gets the grease, and in this case, it seems like the TSR folks are more than happy to squeak, squeak, squeak until they get what they want.  If the folks on our side start squeaking back, LiveJournal may decide that it's not worth their time to get involved (since their TOS suggest that they're not supposed to get involved anyway).  Then again, I make my living tilting at supposed windmills, so maybe I have a skewed perspective.

The latest Coconut posts were quite interesting. Thomass logging into people's accounts and not denying it? (well he didn't confirm it either, so it still qualifies as a rumour)
but the fact that he had an opportunity to deny it, and didn't?

Or he may really be that stupid, or he wants people to be conscious that he has access to everything in TSR, and therefore want censure to start from there. Either way, both he and Atwat are incredibly creepy.
