Actually, building and sim creation seem to be the only thing anyone can do modding-wise.  I expect I'll get it, take a looksee and do what I can.  Most of my houses are done in basic shades anyway, to make things like paintings stand out more.  We'll see what that looks like.

Fortunately, while I mesh and recolour, my main focus has always been building.  If I were mainly a mesher I'd be ticked at how hard they seem intent on making it to import new stuff.  As it is, unless its really good, I'm not buying it, even if it has no securom.  No point in buying a game I won't play for a long time.

I am a bit confused tho...why did EA even have a creators camp if meshing is going to be next to impossible?

A. To get a head start on the Official Lies and Propaganda Campaign.
B. To see exactly how much people will hate the Sims 3..and then do nothing about it.

The one thing I have a problem understanding about EA's plans to lockdown new meshes, which is exactly what it sounds like they're doing because they're money grubbing bastards, is how do they plan to keep anyone interested past the initial game release?
 
Even with an expansion every 2 months or whatever, people (most who have the attention span of ants) are already used to googling their way to whatever toys they want for their games - for free. Any change in the EULA isn't going to affect those of us that have been sharing files for years, but it will definitely affect the kiddies that are used to a stocked booty and free fansites everywhere. Yea, EATSR may make a bundle of cash initially, but a couple buggy item expansions later I foresee problems.

Sure, but by that time they'll already have made a huge profit. And they're on the Sims 3. Really, how many repeat customers are they going to get out of this? Who is going to pay for the Sims 4 in 2015? And we all know how long it can take for people to wise up. Hell, some never do. I just get this creeping feeling that they're going to milk this as hard as they can for as long as they can and discard the empty sims husk once it's completely dry. And from their point of view, why wouldnt they? Charge as much as they can from the second they can (deals with TSR, EA Store, games, expansions) before anyone notices their game is nothing but a hype in a box.

We should have someone post about PMBD on one of those parenting forums. I'm sure that around 75% (or more) of T$R's customers are 12s that ask their parents for the money. They're the uninformed ones, as I am sure 12s don't go into detail about what they are asking for and their parents don't bother to look. If we could get parents to stop throwing money in T$R's tin can without paying attention, that would probably hurt them a lot. The adults that know better and have subs deserve to be poor....

I've thought the exact same thing, but you have to wonder how tech savvy these people are, because if you're going to care about harmful DRM, "watermark" trojans and paypal scandals, you have to be familiar with these things first. I've been trying to explain this whole thing to various people and the best I could get was 'Meh, it's their money'. To non-simmers, this just isn't a big deal.

Lol if they think I'm gonna pay 65 Euro for something that's incomplete, unatractive and has no tools to even import new stuff, they have another thing coming.  In this state it's not even worth 30 bucks.

Oh yeah, if I won the lottery tomorrow the very first thing I'd do would be to fly out Thomass, Atwa and The Crazy Lamp Law Lady for a weekend at EA's private swinger's club. They probably browsed the site and figured it was a sims porn club.

They can't do that, T$R is family friendly At least, now, SuckuRom is out there in all its ugliness for everyone to see, parents with half a brain may think twice about even purchasing the game, yet alone CC. As for the complacent ones who don't care about throwing cash at T$R, posting a link to coconut's site may get the wheels turning. I know it pissed my mom off, and she has NO CLUE about the game (other than the fact that finally I'm old enough to finance my addiction to it).

Posting on parenting forums may not be the most simple solution. Take CafeMom for example. Some of the moms that post there play Sims 2 and worship EA. A few have attempted to sway them to the booty side but have not been successful. There are too many out there who are trusting of big corporations like EA.

Yeah, and EA knows that too. I feel sorry for moms sometimes, they're almost always exploited in marketing

 half the time it is the moms playing! lol   seriously tho....look at some of the creators over at the TSR, they are all older women not 12's. ( nothing against older women playing because I am one)

 Personally when I have told the 12's about the booty they get all excited about free crap and run off with glee to download ( especially the girls with the peggy hair)  It has been the older simmers who get all out of shape...telling me that the booty is stealing blah blah .Well I guess it is because the older folk have the credit cards and the bit of extra cash to burn..IDK for sure.  Then there are the parents who blindly by this stuff because they have not idea what is behind it.....kinda like the parents that buy their 8 year old grand theft auto.
