After a tip-off from dietofworms, i contacted the owner of A Bit Modern, and here is her statement:

I have removed my donation section (which wasn't big one, only two sets) from my site, because the issue about pay site is controversial. So ALL the downloads that you can find from my site are free.

Do know, however, she is kinda wavering on the idea, so I would encourage you to gently encourage her to stay free. I sent her links to free hosting options, so I hope she'll follow through and stay free.

Meanwhile, her two donations sets have been removed from the booty.

Yay for her!  I hope she avails herself of the help to be found here to get her site running well and free for good.  

She's got a split level tutorial there that I think I can actually understand...no mean feat, you could build an apartment complex on the mental blocks I have with split levelling.

Great to hear this....I went to give my thanks. No matter what people say about any of us being "evil, vile, rude" pirates.....no one can ask for a more supportive bunch when people need the support and a pat on the back.

And no more supportive group to go after real nuts, either....

The moral of the story is...PIRATES can be sweeties.
